Justice Motive

In their daily lives, people often orientate towards guidelines of justice, they suffer from injustice, demand justice in various social environments and emphasize the importance of justice for humans in general. On the other hand, seemingly there are big differences in the individual importance of justice. In justice psychology the construct justice motive is therefore discussed. Even though there is much evidence demonstrating the value of the assumed justice motive, there is still no systematic research on the justice motive from a motivational perspective.

Our current research is based on the hypothesis that an explicit justice motive should be differentiated from an implicit justice motive as both motives predict different behaviour. To test this hypothesis, we are developing projective and implicit measures of an implicit justice motive and test their differential validity towards measures (questionnaires) assessing an explicit justice motive.
